In rpm range 3-4k when we all hear a flutter is this the w/g controlling boost?

I have searched and all I found was it is comp surge. ( dont think thats right)

Someone with a Go Pro camera, can you secure it somewhere under the hood with a light (disposable flashlight LED) and make a video of the wastegate arm at WOT drive? I would do this if I had a camera. Just a quick shot of a run down for 20 sec. It won't hurt the camera if strapped well.

I'm tapped directly into the Intake Manifold and I hear plenty of flutter. So how do you have yours connected?

If my HKS was leaking, I'd hear the whistle sound, but I don't. I hear the sound from my intake, and my intake has no recirc hose connected, nor is the port opened on the back of the charge pipe because the HKS is the valve now.

If it were the BOV, stock or aftermarket, every single time, then people would be hearing it whether or not they had an intake or removed the silencer in the stock air box. If it was as simple as the BOV fluttering open under boost, people could test it simply by putting stiffer and stiffer springs + shims in it and it should go away. You'll find that for most of us, that's not the case.

Plenty of people have done enough research to see that the flutter in that rpm range is from the wastegate and that it's a product of the way the turbos on the 13s were built. There's a whole 19 page thread that hasn't left the front page of this section for months with a ton of information in it. Everyone thought it was the BOV at first; turns out, it there are other factors at play. Why you don't hear it, I couldn't say.

For the record, I tried multiple ways of hooking up the BOV (for other reasons) and not one of them reduced the flutter sound in that range. Also, my stock BOV *WAS* fluttering right out of the factory, and after putting the new one on that specific sound went away. The wastegate flutter stayed.

I would direct everyone to this thread: http://www.gencoupe.com/2-0t-discussion-2013-up/96383-2013-leaking-bov-video-19.html TONS of good information in there.

Just a thought my wg acuator arm has alot of play in it. You can shake the thing. I wonder if that lack of exact feedback to the position of the arm causes the acuator to rapidly manipulate? It's not a tightly put together arm like say a tie rod end with the rubber . Just throwing ideas. The sound is rather annoying

It's just the way the turbo is. You can try to take it to the dealer. They may even give you a new turbo. But the likely scenario is that the new one will have the same rattle in the arm.

I can tell you that the rattle on mine started ~2250 miles, but by the time I hit 5k it was gone. Some others have said it went away as well.
